Topic: Attributes of Leading Organizations – Best-in-Class Contractor Management Re-Visited

Abstract:
In times of oil price fluctuations and global uncertainty as the world adjusts to new ways of working in the light of COVID-19 and a shift towards alternative energies, having streamlined and efficient operations with contractors is vital to both safety and business continuity. In 2012 ISN developed 10 principles of ‘Best-in-Class’ contractor management. This presentation outlines the principles and revisits to review their current relevance. A Leadership Survey of 200+ Hiring Organizations helps inform this. When analysing information from leading Organizations, certain key attributes come to light that set these companies apart when it comes to contractor management. Key differentiating attributes include strategic planning, strong understanding of contractor risk, focus on subcontractor companies, prioritizing clear communication and well-integrated internal business processes. Overall results show that the 10 Best-in-Class principles do still apply, but with a greater focus on individual competencies as systems mature and develop.
